A friend walked into my studio and reviewed my existing abstract landscape paintings.
He liked them a lot but he said that the portrait that I painted of Candice Bergen that was hanging on my office wall for many years was more intriguing and compelling to him.
I had heard that refrain many times over the years and I decided ok lets try portrait based painting.
The results are a series of paintings that evolved from the Bergen look that were intended to please and enchant the viewer with movie star and fashion model as the primary subjects.
If you look at the paintings from a distance you achieve a sense of balance and color. If you approach to the artist's view the subjects seem to come alive and "they want you to talk to them".
Hopefully the application of color, the composition of the beautiful images on the canvas, and the subtle expressions and looks are intriguing and compelling.
I think I'll do some more.
